The City of Oceanside Administration Office is located in the downtown City hall faculty. Offices for city officials such as the mayor, deputy mayor, city manager and council members are located in this building. Also situated at this location are members of the Oceanside commissions, boards and committees.
This dog park, located in the Oceanside Industrial Park, is sponsored by The North County Human Society and the local chapter of the SPCA, The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
There are play areas and trails for walking; it is built on a steep hillside that climbs up to Mission Avenue. There is a drinking and bathroom area. The entire park is fenced in and secure. Dogs must be on a leash when outside or approaching the dog park.
The California Welcome Center in Oceanside is located near the northern end of town off of North Coast Highway. It offers visitors the chance to speak with a representative about local and state-wide activities, events and information. Guests can learn about the history of Oceanside, as well as the surrounding areas, and get brochures and special deals for local venues and outings. There is a gift shop that sells t-shirts, sweatshirts, collectibles and more. The interior is large and open, with friendly employees that are vastly knowledgeable about the city and state. Credit cards are accepted for all purchases, though local information is offered free of charge. Parking is complimentary in the attached lot.
The City of Oceanside has six resource centers. The police department operates the police beach facility, the downtown resource center and this main headquarters located in the Mission Douglas Shopping Center. The headquarters is home to the traffic department, the court offices and the crime dispatch center for emergencies. The police department also supports a senior volunteer program that assists community members with preparing crime reports and other police-related matters. The senior volunteers will take reports for crimes such as car burglaries and vandalism incidents. Residents can also obtain crime-prevention information at this office, which works in tandem with the military police of neighboring Camp Pendleton.
The City of Oceanside incorporated in 1888 and covers an area of 42 square miles. Recreational facilities include 30 city parks, four community recreation centers, two municipal swim centers, one senior center, 3.5 miles of public beaches, 1,601-foot fishing pier, 1,000-slip public marina and Heritage Village. The mayor, city manager and city councilman’s offices are on-site. City council meetings are at this location at 4 p.m. on two Wednesdays of each month. City permits, such as parking, building, business and others, can be obtained at the clerk’s office at this location.

The Oceanside Municipal Airport is owned by the City of Oceanside, but it is operated by Airport Property Ventures, a Los Angeles based company. It is located in the valley between the ocean and the mountains so it makes it a popular spot for business planes and private crafts that travel to the San Diego area for holiday. Pilots need to read the City of Oceanside web page for detailed instructions on how to access this airport because it is an unmanned facility with no control tower. Because of its location, pilots need to be alerted of the restricted airspace over Camp Pendleton, a United States Marines base. The airport offers overnight tie-downs, fuel and parking. There are vending machines for sodas, coffee and snacks.
This branch of the United States Postal Service is called the San Luis Rey Office because of its proximity to the historic Mission Church. It is located in the Marketplace Del Rio shopping center near the Stater Brothers grocery store. It sells stamps and offers a variety of options to mail a letter or package. Its priority mail service has become a popular, affordable way to mail a package because, as its motto says, "if it fits, it ships" regardless of the weight of the package. The Social Security Administration allows American citizens to get or replace their Social Security cards and apply for retirement and disability benefits. Check the Administration’s website for a list of detailed services, some of which can be handled online.
City of Oceanside Library Department maintains the town's two major library branches, as well as mobile, home and online library services. Residents of Oceanside can take advantage of the many programs the library department has to offer, including home research, audio books for downloading, book borrowing, literacy services, children's and adults' services, Teen Zone, volunteer opportunities and home-bound service.
The Public Works Department partners with the Oceanside community in providing service to construct, maintain and enhance public facilities, programs and infrastructure in a cost-effective manner. The department is responsible for maintaining the City's transportation system, streetlights, public landscaping, parks, public buildings and municipal airport. The department emphasizes services to neighborhoods such as solid waste clean-up, street sweeping, graffiti control and coordination of capital projects.
The department also provides recycling services to the community. It is a state law that all California cities divert a minimum of 50% from landfills. The offices of the North County Transit District, NCTD, are located in this downtown building. This is a government agency that oversees the Breeze Bus Line, a local bus service covering the North San Diego County districts. It also oversees two train services for the Coaster Rail, which links Oceanside to San Diego, and the Sprinter rail, which links Oceanside to Escondido. Offices for other travel departments, such as Amtrak, Greyhound and the RTA (Rapid Transit Agency), are located in this facility.
Marine Corps Recruiting is responsible for military recruitment of civilians into the Corps. It is also responsible for preparing them for United States Marine Corps Recruit Training, Officer Candidates School or the United States Naval Academy.
All potential recruits are screened by recruiters for physical standards and fitness, adequate education, lack of significant civil convictions, lack of significant drug use and other qualifiers. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is administered to determine qualifications for a job field known as a Military Occupational Specialty.
