The City of San Carlos Building Division is comprised of a building official, an engineer, five building inspectors and a senior administrative clerk. The Planning and Zoning Department's responsibilities and duties include city code enforcement, education, flood plan management and apartment inspections.
Responsible for education, city code enforcement, flood plan management and an apartment inspection program, the San Carlos Building Division Planning and Zoning Department is located at 600 Elm St., inside the City Hall building.

Located in downtown San Carlos, City Hall Park offers an attractive, well-maintained lawn area for residents to enjoy. There are several benches and picnic tables scattered around the park, as well as a selection of trees, shrubs and flowers. The park is used for the holiday tree lighting ceremony and the Festival of Arts program each year.
Established in 1946, San Mateo County Veterans Services is provided by County of San Mateo Human Services. Services include helping veteran's with employment. Also offered are help with alcoholism, post-traumatic stress syndrome, and other psychiatric issues.
Medical and dental services are also included for eligible veteran's. Carious activities are also offered.
San Carlos Building Division issues permits, insures all new developments in San Carlos are constructed according to standards and makes sure all existing structures are maintained safely. The Building Division, led by city official Christopher Valley, is also responsible for education, city-wide code enforcement, floodplain management and the Apartment Inspection Program.
The City of San Carlos Building Division issues building permits for new construction and enforces the municipal building codes. Smaller home renovations are eligible to receive a building permit within 24 hours and there is counter service available for homeowners or contractors to ask questions.

Thus, they work hard to find solutions for families who need additional support sustaining the high cost of living in the San Francisco Bay area.
Serving the cities of San Carlos and Belmot, the San Carlos Fire Department covers an area of more than 8 square miles with more than 53,000 people.
The department is comprised of a fire chief, fire marshal, 42 full-time fire fighters and four stations. In addition to fire-fighting, the dedicated members provide emergency medical treatment, rescue services and vehicular accident assistance.
