The City of San Carlos Building Division is comprised of a building official,  an engineer, five building inspectors and a senior administrative clerk. The Planning and Zoning Department's responsibilities and duties include city code enforcement, education, flood plan management and apartment inspections.

Responsible for education, city code enforcement, flood plan management and an apartment inspection program, the San Carlos Building Division Planning and Zoning Department is located at 600 Elm St., inside the City Hall building. 

The building division is made up of a building official, Christopher Valley, a plan check engineer, five building inspectors and a senior administrative clerk.

San Carlos was recently awarded an Insurance Service Office rating of three out of 10, with one being the best.

Located in downtown San Carlos, City Hall Park offers an attractive, well-maintained lawn area for residents to enjoy. There are several benches and picnic tables scattered around the park, as well as a selection of trees, shrubs and flowers. The park is used for the holiday tree lighting ceremony and the Festival of Arts program each year.

Serving the cities of San Carlos and Belmot, the San Carlos Fire Department covers an area of more than 8 square miles with more than 53,000 people. 

The department is comprised of a fire chief, fire marshal, 42 full-time fire fighters and four stations. In addition to fire-fighting, the dedicated members provide emergency medical treatment, rescue services and vehicular accident assistance.
