The Town of North Hempstead occupies 58 square miles. Its western border is roughly 14.5 miles from Manhattan. It is bounded on the north by the Long Island Sound, to the south by the Town of Hempstead, to the west by the borough of Queens, and to the east by the Town of Oyster Bay. Its northern land boundaries are extensively arranged along the Little Neck and Manhasset Bays, and Hempstead Harbor. The average commute to and from New York City by train is 30 minutes.
The office for the Zoning Board of Appeals Town of Ridgefield handles the town's varying zoning regulations, enforcement decisions and eminent domain issues. Public meetings are twice a month on Mondays in the Town Hall Annex Building.
The Office of the Town Clerk is responsible for birth, death and change of name certificates as well as marriage, dog, hunting and fishing licenses. The town clerk office is also responsible for meeting agendas and minutes and town records. The Office of the Town Clerk is located in the town hall along with various other town departments and offices.
Dedicated in September 2000, the Town Campus Playground is designed to be used by children five to twelve years old. The playground was created with the help of the Philip Picard family, in memory of Philip Picard, along with the Madison Newcomers Club, the Corey Erskine Memorial Foundation, the Pre K-Kindergarten PTQ, the Board of Education Modular Pre K-Kindergarten Project, Emily R. Vancil and Lenny and Joe's Fishtale.
The playground is conveniently located next to the town tennis courts, which are reserved for the use of town residents and their guests. Playing time should be limited to one hour when people are waiting.
Marlborough Community Services is a human services agency located in suite 113 of the Walker building on Main Street. It operates a food pantry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am - 1pm. The food pantry can also be found in the Walker building at the Rawlins Street entrance.
The Clinton Building Department is located on the lower level of Andrews Memorial Town Hall and consists of several offices and personnel including the zoning enforcement officer, building official, planning and zoning office and inland wetlands office.
The Framingham Zoning Board of Appeals is in Room B2 at the Memorial Building (Framingham Town Hall).
The Zoning Board of Appeals is a three-member board appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The Board enforces the town's zoning bylaws: www.framinghamma.gov/index.aspx?nid=246.
The Board also grants permits for projects that do not meet the the town's zoning bylaws. Via public meetings, the boards approve and deny requests for variances and special permits.
