This facility is where the City of Ames maintains and repairs its fleet. The city has 458 vehicles and 197 truck bodies and attachments. Vehicles from three departments, Public Works, Traffic and Utility Maintenance, also are housed here.
This state office uses space on the second floor of Ames City Hall for simple court trials and handles civil infractions.
The Power Plant, Water Pollution Control Center Electric administration, engineering and metering are all located here at Utility Park behind the bandshell.
The Equipment Division repairs, maintains and manages services for all major city-owned vehicular equipment with the exception of transit buses. Acquisition of new vehicles/equipment and disposition of replaced vehicles/equipment as well as fueling services are the responsibility of the Equipment Division.
The city administrative offices house the City Council chambers, city manager's office, and other city offices. The City Council and the Urbandale School Board hold meetings in the council chambers. Other buildings in the city complex include the public library, police department, water department and the parks and recreation maintenence building.
Urbandale City Services provides town residents with an online directory of the municipal services available to them. The listings include police and fire departments, the health department, animal control, parks and recreation, trash collection and water services. The directory includes hours of operation and contact information for each department.
