The Veterans of Foreign Wars, or VFW, was formed in 1899 to unite the nation's veterans and provide them with camaraderie and to honor them for their services. The VFW has also put up memorials for the veterans of conflicts in Vietnam, Korean and World War II, and women in military service. This particular location of the VFW in Farmingdale holds town events, such as meetings and voting stands, and provides a flag disposal box.
