The Syracuse University Library consists of eight libraries, which are spread throughout the campus. These are the E.S. Bird (main) Library; the science and technology, mathematics, physics and geology libraries; the H. Douglas Barclay Law Library; the Martin Luther King Jr. Library; and the architecture reading room. An interesting footnote on the library system: it added the first book in its collection, Benjamin Tucker s Epitome of Ancient & Modern History, in 1871. The collection now numbers more than 2.5 million volumes, and Tucker s book is still one of them.
