Carmichael Recreation and Park District is a provider of recreational services for the Carmichael community. Services offered include dance classes, activities for youths and adults, sports instruction and courses dealing with first aid methods. Specific programs include basketball for elementary school girls and boys, before and after school recreation, quilting classes, ballroom dance, pottery classes, driving courses, group fitness instruction and martial arts. The district also gives clients the opportunity to rent out facilities for private parties and events. Effie Yeaw Nature Center is an environmental and cultural education center located inside Ancil Hoffman Park, off Tarshes Drive in Carmichael. The center is operated by the American River Natural History Association and offers 77 acres filled with educational stations for adults and kids, small animals, exhibits and more. The area has three self-guided trails which offer views of animals, including turkeys, deer, rabbits and other creatures. The location also offers a shop, specialty exhibits, as well as space available for rental.

The Center's Assembly Building is available for meetings, workshops and educational programs and special events. It can hold 100 to 130 people in a single room or it can be divided into three individual rooms to seat 20 to 50 people.
