The Finnish Cultural Center & Hall lets all members experience Finnish culture through classes, folk dancing, singing, drama, cooking and weaving classes. The center also has concerts with Finnish American Singers. Other events held include the Pikku Joulou, Scandinavian Bazarr and summer jamboree.
The center has a gift shop that sells jewelry, books, novelties and specialty foods. The center also has the Finlandia Gardens. The gardens are full of garden statuary and benches among a variety of flowers and flowers native to Michigan. The Finlandia Gardens are open to the public, and the garden club meets on Mondays.
The center also offers a banquet hall that can accommodate 250 people. A full bar and catering is available. There is also a lounge available for rental that can accommodate 75 people.
The Huntington Woods Recreation Center includes the Aquatic Center, the Huntington Woods Library and Cultural Center, Burton Elementary and Burton Community Park. This 30,000 square foot facility includes a pool and a full court gymnasium that can be opened to become an indoor/outdoor recreation facility.
The center, renovated in 2000, hosts a variety of special events, including school parties, dances and other group meetings. The facility also features private study or reading rooms with wood-paneled walls, as well as snack area with tables and chairs, and a full kitchen.
The recreation center grounds include multiple "adopt-a-garden" gardens maintained by local residents. Bike racks and free parking is available.
Huntington Woods parks and fields can be reserved at the Huntington Woods Recreation Center. Users also can check out facility keys at the rec center.
The Farmington Glen Aquatic Club offers swimming pools and welcomes pro and novice swimmers alike. The club is closed during the winter months and begins its season at the end of May. Farmington Glen Aquatic Club offers swim team services and supports other community meet-ups.
Arab/Chaldean Social Services is a collection of institutions that works with the Arabic and Chaldean communities, including the National Association of Yemeni Arab Americans and the Yemeni Community Center Honorary Consulate General of the Republic of Yemen/Yemeni Association. It offers job placement assistance, language classes, social services and events for socializing and personal advancement.
The Plymouth Community United Way, located in downtown Plymouth, is a nonprofit community impact organization. The organization provides funding to health and human service agencies to assist residents in the Plymouth, Canton and Western Wayne communities. Additional services focus on specific areas of impact, such as strengthening families and assisting the elderly.
