The Community House is an independent, nonprofit organization that provides educational, social, outreach and cultural programs to residents of the Greater Birmingham, Mich., area. Comstock Community Center is a non-profit 501 @ 3 agency that serves the residents of Kalamazoo County. The Center addresses the needs of seniors, youth and families by operating four comprehensive service programs: Adult Activities, Volunteer Coordination, Children and Youth Development and Program Development. The Center collaborates with numerous agencies to deliver a broad range of services.The adult programming provides opportunities to improve health and social interaction through regularly scheduled activities such as: Travel, Tai Chi, Pastel Painting, Exercise, Cards, and Bell Ringing. The Centers program coordination and development assures our county access to direct services provided by the center itself, hosted direct service providers and community agencies.The Center addresses issues of access, transportation and wrap around linkage by functioning as a single entry point for service delivery. In addition to the programs and services offered in-house, we also host organizations such as: Loaves and Fishes, AARP, Senior Services, AA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H. By hosting these direct service providers the center is able to maximize its capacity for the delivery of a comprehensive range of services to the community at a minimal cost.Our Youth and Children services provides both fee for service and free activities for youngsters aged 2 1/2 to 18. These services include a pre-school, kindergarten wrap around, before and after school care, summer camp and a youth mentoring program for young men and women.
