On the spacious grounds of the Cardinal Carberry campus, the Shrewsbury Senior Center is tucked inside the St. Joseph apartment complex. Every weekday, seniors meet here to chat over lunch, play bingo or listen to one of the regulars play the piano. The center regularly brings in entertainers—often local singers and groups—to perform for the group. A tai chi fitness class is held on Mondays and a small selection of fitness equipment is available for use. The center also hosts holiday parties.
The suggested donation for lunch for adults 60 and older is $3.25. Others may eat, but the cost is $6.25. Home-delivered meals are possible for those who are unable to leave their homes—contact the center for food delivery information. Shrewsbury Senior Center currently delivers about 60 meals per day.
