The YMCA is a community centered organization that strives to bring people together and nurture individual's potential. The Chesterfield facility features a pool, fitness center and indoor track. The location also offers childcare and preschool, programs, classes and family activities.
The Regional Art Commission (RAC) is a cultural catalyst in the St. Louis area, providing financial, technical, promotional and other support for arts organizations. RAC aims to promote and encourage art and cultural institutions in St. Louis City and County and to contribute to the economic development of the area. RAC's mission is to create an environment that nurtures artists as well as arts and cultural organizations. The organization also rents out space in the building for parties, meetings, studios and art exhibits.
The St. Charles Salvation Army Corps Community Centers, run by Ron and Laura Key, is both a place of worship and a community center. It is the place to go for people in St. Charles who need help or guidance.
This Christian center offers Bible studies, Sunday services and gospel courses. Additionally, it provides financial aid, free groceries, lunch and dinner on weekdays, a medical clinic (available by appointment on Wednesday and Fridays) and a 24-hour emergency shelter for people in need of a safe place to sleep for a night.
Wildlife Center of Missouri, a non-profit organization mostly run by volunteers, is a rescue center for sick, injured and orphaned wild animals. Its goal is to rescue the animal, care for it and release it back into the wild if possible.
John F. Kennedy Community Center features a fitness center and a racquetball court. The center also provides two large rooms to rent for bridal showers, group meetings and other events.
The Maryland Heights Centre facility used to be a church before the city bought it. It is home to the Maryland Heights Department of Parks and Recreation. It offers group exercise classes, personal training and kids programs. Activities and facility use is open to everyone, though rates are different for non-residents.
The Elks Lodge is a private club and service organization. It sponsors and runs a number of community outreach and social programs throughout the year. A part of the national network of Elks Lodge, this organization supports education by granting scholarship to local students every year. The facilities at Lodge 2644 are available for private event rental. It is located on the corner of Central Avenue and West First Street, by the railroad tracks.
The Center of Clayton offers visitors numerous opportunities for recreation, including four gyms, an indoor track, more than 20,000 square feet of aquatic space, a climbing wall, meeting rooms and more.
Clayton High School shares the facility, so the visitor base is an eclectic mix of students and members. The site also features Coffee Corner, a Subway restaurant and a nursery service. An extensive directory of additional services is available on the Center's Web site.
The national nonprofit OASIS has a regional office at the facility. The group provides programming opportunities for people who are 50 and older.
This park could be considered the jewel in the crown of Sunset Hills' parks. There are two miles of paved trails. A lake is surrounded by benches and trees with a wooden footbridge crossing at one end. There is the community swimming pool (open Memorial Day through Labor Day) and pool house for private party rentals. A nine-hole disc (or Frisbee) golf course winds through the park's 28 acres of foliage. Playgrounds, picnic shelters, basketball courts, volleyball court and tennis courts round out the range of options. The full-service Community (and fitness) Center sits on the Lindbergh Boulevard side of the park. The pool entrance is along West Watson Road. This is the headquarters for all sorts of sports leagues and activities.
