PB & Jack is a fun, enriching and comfortable place for children as well as adults. It features a supervised indoor playground and a wide range of different activities and classes offered every day for kids. PB & Jack also offers a parents' lounge/coffee shop, with kid and adult friendly food and drinks. It offers a variety of classes for adults, including parenting seminars, and regularly hosts special events like story time or live music. PB & Jack also hosts birthdays and private parties.
The Civil War Interpretive Center at Historic Blenheim is a visitor's first stop before strolling through the grounds. It provides introductory information, explaining this site's historical significance to the Civil War. It features exhibition spaces and a classroom, which are available for event rental.
Visitors will find two preserved buildings, Blenheim and Grandma's Cottage, each portraying 19th century life and culture. Every year, on May 7, the center hosts a Civil War reenactment of Ulysses S. Grant's confrontation with Robert E. Lee in 1864.

The donations dropped in Salvation Army buckets around Christmas all over the country are put to good work in places like this non-denominational house of prayer and community center. This branch of the Salvation Army operates under the motto "Doing the most good for God and the people of Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church since 1958," and in accordance with those lofty ambitions this Army base provides a year-round food pantry, heating and cooling assistance to the needy, assistance with clothing and household items, after-school youth activities, scouting-type programs for kids and teens and sundry other invaluable services to the community. Among the many noteworthy programs the Salvation Army runs is the "Angel Tree" Christmas effort through which donors spend their time and money to make the holidays a little brighter for disadvantaged kids. Members of the church say it's a particularly welcoming and diverse (both economically and ethnically) community. Worship services are held at the church at 11am on Sundays and the church offers a wide variety of other activities throughout the week.

Located adjacent to Van Dyck Park, the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center is a 14,330-square-foot building designated for community events. The center hosts cultural activities, adult and youth recreation programs and art-related activities. It can also be rented for private functions of any size.
The George W. Johnson Center is home to a variety of resources and facilities to serve students. The center features a library, dance studio, movie theater, food court, restaurant, bookstore, meeting room, computer store, copy center, bank and credit union and more. The building is also home to the offices of Student Government, Student Academic Affairs, Admission, African American Studies, Alumni Affairs, WGMU Radio and others.
David R. Pinn Community Center, located on Zion Drive, offers area residents of all ages a place to gather and participate in programs and community events. The center was built more than 100 years ago and offers after-school programs, educational programs, classes, youth services, summer programs and more. The property is owned by the Sideburn Civic Association, with the Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services sponsoring its programs.
