In the midst of the Gulfport residential neighborhood, this chapel features a soaring Eastern-style steeple. Pastor Jerry Partney conducts worship services every Sunday, and various Bible study and youth groups meet throughout the week. The church runs Sophie's Attic, a thrift shop that raises money for local charitable causes.
This large cemetery has been here since 1921. Many notable citizens of St. Petersburg rest here in the shade of live oaks and royal palm trees. There are several mausoleums and urn repositories.
This intimate, white-sand beach is tucked next to the Saint Petersburg Pier. Although the pier bustles with visitors, the beach is often quiet, going largely unnoticed, even on weekends. Spa Beach is next to a parking lot and rental booth, which offers paddle boats, kayaks, jet skis and other water craft.

Surrounding it is a complex of several buildings that includes the original sanctuary (built in 1925), a preschool and an activity center, as well as two playgrounds. SPIFFS, for short, is the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society -- an organization that is most well known for its annual Folk Fair, a festival showcasing foods, goods, music and customs from a wide range of cultures from around the world. In addition to its popular fair, SPIFFS also offers translation and education services, including ethnic representatives traveling to area schools to share elements of their culture with students. Many of the member groups that comprise the SPIFFS organization also have folk dance groups that are available for public performances. Meetings are held in the SPIFFS office, located at the St. Pete Sunshine Center.

The church also has several musical groups, including a forty-voice choir. Grace Bible Church supports various local charity groups and missionary programs abroad.
The day school serves children ages 2 through pre-kindergarten, and is located on the church campus. Children receive an early-childhood education plus chapel, Spanish, music and art. Healthy snacks are provided daily. There is a fenced-in playground for children to have outdoor activities.
First United Methodist Church congregates in a large, historic building directly across the street from Williams Park. The church holds three regular services on Sunday, both in traditional and contemporary styles. Throughout the week, the church is active with preschool and study groups.
An Evangelical Covenant Church, Faith Covenant meets every Sunday at 10am for services. In addition to its services, Faith Covenant also offers youth group and Bible study programs during the week. Members also meet for Sunday picnics and other activities, including softball games, as well as practice groups for diverse activities such as singing.
Mount Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church was founded by a group of community leaders, and its stated mission is to bring about “effective change” in the community by going “further in and deeper down.”
Future plans for Mt. Zion include a private Christian school, job training, housing for seniors, internal missions, a halfway house for inmates released from correctional facilities, drug prevention/rehabilitation and parenting programs, to name a few.
The 4th Street chapter of the Red Cross supports the international organization's mission of providing assistance and relief after disasters.
This branch offers classes in CPR for aiding adults, children and infants; first aid for pets; babysitting; workplace safety; aquatics safety; and wilderness rescue and first aid.
The public can sign up and pay online with a credit card or come in to register in person. The Red Cross is always looking for volunteers to aid in disaster relief efforts and classroom training.
This historic Catholic church has been serving the St. Petersburg community for more than 80 years. It offers masses daily and three times on Sunday. St. Mary also provides wedding, funeral, baptism, confirmation and reconciliation classes and services.
Sunken Gardens, which began its meandering history more than one hundred years ago, is a botanical garden that houses some of the oldest and most exotic plants and flowers in St. Petersburg. Located near route 275, Sunken Gardens offers horticulture classes, and is a great location for weddings, garden tours, special events and field trips. Sunken Gardens' waterfalls are beautiful and the walking paths will take you away from the daily grind.
Sierra Club Florida is dedicated to environmental activism and believes in the power of the outdoors to revitalize the spirit of humankind. The club has many planned activities throughout the year as well as impromptu protests and letter writing campaigns in reaction to current environmental affairs.
