Creative Artistry is a fine arts school for all ages and abilities. The instructors work from real life, photographs and on location, when possible. Creative thinking, application of art elements and problem solving goes into every piece. Artists learn and progress through the creative process from realism to abstract and everything in between. Financial aid is available only to those who qualify.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church has been in existence since 1978, when the congregation held its first mass at the Crystal Lake South High School. In 1982, the church moved into its own building located just a few miles southwest of downtown Crystal Lake. Veteran Acres Park offers a host of recreational opportunities. Two picnic shelters with tables can be reserved for parties or groups. Sports facilities include several playing fields, like the Mary Peacock softball field and the Frank Repp baseball field, with a concession stand, lighted tennis courts and basketball courts. Restrooms are available near the concession stand. There are also several walking paths and trails in Sterne's Woods and a fishing pier. During the winter, the pond is used for ice skating, and sledding and cross-country skiing trails are available. Veteran Acres also features buildings for the Nature Center, Rotary Club and a warming center.
Spoerl Park is on the east side of Pingree Road, with a parking lot found in at the end of Claire Street. The park has a baseball diamond used by the Crystal Lake Babe Ruth league, two tennis courts, a basketball court and a playground. There are restrooms and a concession stand in the multi-purpose building, which also houses a kitchen and classroom used for extended kindergarten.
Located in southern Crystal Lake just off Randall Road, Hope Covenant is an Evangelical church. They offer youth services and have a basketball court onsite. They also offer many community programs for outreach and fun. Sunday service is at 9:30 a.m.
Located on the outskirts of town, Living Waters Lutheran Church is a pleasant, quiet place of worship. They offer Bible school, many extra activities for fun and fundraising, as well as trips for their youth members.
St. Paul's is in the heart of Crystal Lake. Directly across the street from an elementry school, it offers youth programs, child care and recreational facilities for the young ones. Sunday morning services are available as well.
Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce is a community organization serving the residents of McHenry County. The chamber includes five divisions: a community services division, with various activities and events geared towards community outreach; a business development division, dedicated to enhancing local businesses; a member benefits division, serving the chamber members; a finance division, focused on the fiscal integrity of the chamber; and an ambassadors division, which works on outreach to the community.
Set in the countryside of Crystal Lake, Crystal Lake Christian Church is a small congregation that recently welcomed the addition of pastor Scott Jewell and his family. It is a non-denominational church that offers Sunday school and vacation Bible school.
