Hauppauge Public Library was founded in October 2001 to serve the Islip portion of the Hauppauge school district. Since then it has expanded rapidly to contain a diverse collection of books, music CDs and even e-books for iPods. Its open-air interior has a number of tables and computer work stations and also offers free Wi-Fi. The library is a member of Suffolk Wave and hosts children, teen and adult programs year-round.
St. Thomas More Catholic Church has provided religious services for the Hauppauge community since the 1960s. The Rev. Monsignor Francis Midura leads worship services, acting as the fourth pastor of the synogogue. He aims to engage his congregants, making services an enjoyable experience, while sharing lessons from the Bible.
The church also offers religious education for children through eighth-grade, or confirmation, with a youth group ministry program. Both a youth and adult choir meet regularly to practice. Association for a Better Long Island is a non-partisan community dealing with bi-county business development, especially in response to how technology is changing the way we do business. The association was founded by President and CEO Edward Blumenfeld.
Calvary Lutheran Church is an Evangelical Lutheran Christian congregation, located at the intersection of Townline and Blydenburgh roads in Hauppauge. The church hosts a wide range of programs for children, youth, women, men and seniors.
Sunday school religious education is provided on Sunday mornings for children age two through fifth grade. Older youth can get involved in Crossfire, a youth ministry program that focuses on community and volunteerism, getting involved with barbecues, working a local farm for a food pantry and more.

Long Island Federation of Labor is the local branch of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations representing Suffolk and Nassau counties. It is the fourth largest cental labor union in the country, representing over 250,000 union members. The organization advocates legally and politically on infastructural issues affecting business on Long Island, such as transportation and federal founding. Two recent issues supported by the organization include saving Long Island Bus and keeping John. J. Foley Nursing Home open to the public.
Lead by Rabbi Rhonda Nebel, Temple Beth Chai is an Egalitarian Conservative Temple serving Jewish residents of Hauppauge since 1972. Their motto is "A Community Within A Community." The synogogue offers a variety of services to suit all needs. Transliterated copies of the services are available Friday night and Saturday morning, with Spanish copies on Friday evening. Temple Beth Chai also hosts a variety of free community programs and events.
The United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers is a labor union for roofers, providing education and training opportunities, health and safety programs, pension plans and other member benefits. The Brentwood Teacher's Association is affiliated with a number of local and national unions and educational associations. A benevolent fund is available awarding scholarships from $250 - $500 to children of members.

Hidden Pond Park is a place to cool off with a quick dip in the pool during a hot summer day. Owned by the town of Islip, the park has three pools: the children's pool is 3 feet at its deepest; the main pool ranges in depth from 4 to 10 feet; and the diving pool features two boards and a safety depth of 30 feet. Swim lessons -- ranging from water basics to Red Cross lifeguard certification -- are available here. Hidden Pond Parks also boasts a removed picnic area with two baseball diamonds, a volleyball court and fun-in-the-sun athletic fields.
The Long Island Advocacy Center is a private nonprofit that fights for the legal rights of individuals with disabilities in Suffolk and Nassau counties. The center carries out its work in three ways: through direct individualized services, special education support and education. This involves working with and using attorneys, support services and training, respectively. The Executive Director of the center is Linda Milch.
Bill Richards Memorial Park, formerly named the Green Gates Park, is a small, quiet, wooded park nearby Blydenburgh County Park on Veterans Memorial Highway. It's named after a former Town of Smithtown Parks Commissioner who also held a number of other positions within the town government.
The area offers Town of Smithtown residents a chance to picnic and hike without traveling far. Restrictions include no motorized vehicles, golfing or horseback riding.
The Suburban New York Regional Council of Carpenters is a union of carpenters in the Hauppauge area. The Council of Carpenters provides training and apprenticeship as well as resources for carpenters to get involved in their communities.
This is the Hauppauge offices of the London-based Reuters. Reuters is a well-known provider of worldwide information and news through wire reporting services and legal and health care publications. This 140,000-square-foot facility houses Reuter's development and internal support groups. Adjoining is its 50,000-square-foot data center.
Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council is a non-profit organization that represents Long Island's 24 not-for-profit hospitals and medical centers before lawmakers, regulatory agencies, the media and the public. It advocates for funding for hospitals and healthcare, in addition to offering assistance enrolling in New York State Healthcare.
The Facilitated Enrollment Service helps those in need sign up for Medicaid, Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus. It provides information to help determine eligibility or assistance filling out an application through a scheduled series of community events. These sign-up events operate on a first-come, first-served basis with appointments lasting approximately 20-30 minutes. Applicants are required to provide proof of identity, their home address, age and income.
