The Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department maintains an administration division that employs various program and office support specialists, data analysts, and business, retention and marketing coordinators. It is a public safety agency that works to provide fire prevention, suppression and emergency medical services. The department is comprised of several career and volunteer personnel who operate more than 10 fire stations. The Roanoke County Fire and Rescue Department operates a citizens fire and rescue academy that provides opportunities for residents to receive firsthand training related to fire rescue and safety. It also maintains a training department that conducts outreach programs for adults and children, as well as offers public education services.
