Founded in 1976, Sunrise Community has various locations in Florida, including one in Tallahassee. It is a nonprofit organization providing support and assistance to individuals suffering from developmental disabilities. The organization provides a wide range of services that include foster care, supported living, residential homes, respite care, supported employment, adult day program, after-school care, behavioral analysis and assessment, and physical, occupational and speech language therapies. It also offers environmental modifications, companion services, in-home training, transportation, personal care assistance, homemaker services and nonresidential support services. The organization provides all its services through registered and licensed practical nurses. Sunrise Community also offers wheelchairs and adaptive equipment and assistance to consumers in acquiring specialized equipment designed to their individual needs.
