Dr. Johnston is a native of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, he received his medical education at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served a Residency and Chief Residency at Vanderbilt University, where he was honored with the Vanderbilt House Staff Clinical Teaching Award. He subsequently was a Fellow in Cardiology at Emory University and remained at Emory as an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology). Rick Koch is originally from Massachusetts and was a cardiology ultrasound software engineer prior to embarking upon a career in medicine. Dr. Koch pursued medicine in order to directly care for patients. During cardiology fellowship he received his Cardiac CT training at Tennessee Heart and Vascular. Dr. Fathi Ali graduated from Garyounis University in Benghazi, Libya with a bachelor in law degree and went on to earn a medical degree from Al-Arab Medical University in Libya. Later he completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Toronto in Canada. After his residency, Dr. Ali completed fellowship trainings in cardiology at the University of Calgary and University of Ottawa, a fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Ottawa, and a fellowship in interventional cardiology from the University of Calgary Medical School. He occupied several academic posts in Canada then in the US where he served as an assistant professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University before moving to private practice. He is also a fellow of several professional societies including the American College of Cardiology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and Heart Rhythm Society. Moreover, his work has been published in several scientific journals, including the Journal of American College of Cardiology Intervention (JACC Intervention). Dr. Ali is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, and interventional cardiology. He has a passion for medical education and has helped in setting up and running several online educational websites. In his free time, Dr. Ali enjoys computer software design, playing soccer, writing a political blog in Arabic, hiking, and travelling with his wife and 4 children. Furrukh Malik, MD has a background in invasive cardiology with specialized training in advanced heart failure and transplantation. Dr. Malik earned his medical degree from King Edward Medical College, graduating top of his class. Dr. Gregory Sikes has over 35 years of experience practicing cardiology. He is an alumnus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he graduated summa cum laude and received Bachelors and Masters degrees in nuclear engineering. He served as Department Chair of the Cardiovascular Center at Centennial Medical Center from 2008 until 2016, President-Elect of the Centennial Medical Staff from 2016 to 2018, and is currently the President of the Medical Staff. He also has served as director of electrophysiology research for Sarah Cannon Research Institute since 2009.
