Our history Y.O.U., Inc. began in 1971 as an arm of the Worcester Juvenile Court to provide court diversion and prevention services to troubled adolescents. Over the years, Y.O.U., Inc. has remained true to its mission of providing opportunities for people to become contributing members of the community while expanding and diversifying services to meet ever-changing community needs. Today, the agency has more than 30 different programs within five components: outpatient family centers, community-based services, residential services, education and vocational services, and managed care. The Brien Center for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is a multi-faceted, well-connected, well-integrated and community-based agency that has a long history of providing emergency services and in addition, comprehensive, recovery-based, culturally competent, community-based services for children, adolescents, adults and families who suffer from serious and persistent mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders. Ours services are responsive to preferences and needs and focus on rehabilitation, resiliency and recovery. Since 1920, Berkshire County residents have turned to the Brien Center as the primary provider of assistance for the mental health and substance abuse issues that they or their families may be enduring. Here they have found high quality care and have been treated with dignity and respect. The Brien Center is the sole provider for the uninsured and under insured, offering a sliding fee scale to accommodate the neediest, both in terms of their mental health and financial capacity. The Brien Center services are open to all segments of the Berkshire County population, serving more than 10,000 clients annually at the Briens North, Central and South County locations. Three thousand of our clients are children. We currently provide Berkshire County-wide services that include the following: residential, rehabilitation, educational, employment, outreach, housing support, nursing, wellness support, psychiatric services, medication management, and medical and social day support for elderly and younger disabled adults.
