The town's fire department consists of four companies:
- Company 1 at 2825 Main St. in the town center.
- Company 2 at 905 Main St. in South Glastonbury.
- Company 3 at 1089 Chestnut Hill Road.
- Company 4 at 1247 Manchester Road.
Fire headquarters is in the rear of Company 1.
Groton Long Point Volunteer Fire Department covers Groton Long Point and provides mutual aid to the Noank Fire District. The department has about 20 members and 12 active volunteers. Rescue vehicles include a pumper truck, rescue truck and rescue boat. The department responds to calls 24 hours a day but is not staffed at the fire house during the daytime.

The Easton Volunteer Fire Company is a volunteer fire department with a station based on Center Road. The department provides fire and medical emergency services for the community and is an independent volunteer organization. It responds to hundreds of calls each year and offers protection for fire, hazardous materials, flooding and other emergencies. It also has an annual carnival with rides, food and entertainment activities. Check its website for details on volunteering or for information on the carnival.
This building is around the corner from Fire Station 1 on Main Street. The Meadow Road structure was built in 1906. Another portion was built in 1958. No fire equipment is stored here.
Pine Rock Park Volunteer Fire Co. No. 4 is an all-volunteer organization that has been preserving life and property in Shelton for nearly 80 years. Founded in 1933 by a group of Pine Rock Park residents, this fire company is committed to providing the "highest level of life safety and property conservation." Through fire education and fire-prevention programs, the volunteers here at "The Rock" are dedicated to keeping Shelton residents safe. The company is headquartered in a spacious green wooden facility with a three-bay garage, along a scenic yet remote stretch of Long Hill Avenue.
The department has two stations, one is on Shelton Road and another at 582 Booth Hill Rd. Shelton Road's station is equipped with one engine, a firetruck and a rescue truck. The chief is Shawn Rice.
The town of Somers is protected from fire and emergencies by a combination professional and volunteer fire department. The department has eight fire trucks – including two service trucks and a heavy rescue truck – and two ambulances. In addition to putting out fires, the Department makes water rescues and assists other departments in rescue efforts. It also responds to all kinds of emergencies, such as accidents and out-of-the-ordinary problems.
In addition to its lifesaving duties, the fire department offers classes and programs to help residents learn how to live safer lives. The department also retains a group for sixteen and seventeen year-olds who are interested in fire fighting and emergency medical services.
