Cherry Central was formed in 1973 to market and sell tart and sweet cherries. The company has since branched into other fruits, including apples and blueberries. Cherry Central has member cooperatives throughout the United States, including New York, Wisconsin, Utah and Washington. Its member-grown fruit serves the retail, food service and ingredient markets. The company owns Dunkley International, a machinery manufacturer that specializes in fruit processing equipment and Oceana Foods, a fruit drying facility in Shelby, Mich. Oceana Foods process cherries, blueberries, cranberries, apples, strawberries and other fruits. Cherry Central is located in Traverse City, Mich.
