It began as a furniture and appliance store on Jackson St., behind Stanfords House of Pizza. It was then known as Landrys Furniture Company, owned by Rene Landry until his death in the 1960s. It is a little-known fact that Renes brother Rudy owned a second Landrys Furniture Company, in the town of Livermore Falls.in the Sanford, Maine area. The store integrated itself into a part of the community and thrived throughout the 60s and early 70s. It was in 1973 that the store, now owned by nephew Bob Landry, was envisioned as larger, packed to the gills with furniture, used as well as new. In 1974, Bob Landrys Furniture Barn Inc. opened on the corner of Main Street and Breary Avenue, 2 miles down the road.
