MDX was created in 1994 by the State of Florida and the Board of County Commissioners of Miami-Dade County to serve as an innovative transportation agency dedicated to the enhancement of mobility in Miami-Dade County. MDX Vision Statement Solely financed by tolls, MDX receives virtually no state or federal funds; no sales tax, gas tax or property tax. We reinvest the toll dollars collected for the construction, operation and maintenance of five of the most critical expressways in Miami-Dade County:
