Hospice of Havasu is an independent, nonprofit patient-centered team of volunteers and professionals that serves the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the incurably ill. Founded in 1982, the team employs a staff of nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, counselors and administrative support group. It also consists of more than 75 volunteers. The team offers several services, such as end-of-life care, case management and bereavement counseling. The team also works with the area nursing programs to recruit and mentor young nurses in the philosophy of Hospice of Havasu care. Additionally, the team operates a resale store. Its volunteers serve as staff members and help in the operation of the store. Located in Lake Havasi City, Ariz., Hospice of Havasu is Medicare certified.
