First Field Farm is a hunter and jumper equestrian facility that has made its home on Dumont Avenue in Cerritos since 1993. This facility is run by Carolyn Biava and Janet McDonald. These two businesswomen have a combined 65 years of career experience in training hunting and jumping horses for competition, consignment and sales.
First Field Farm offers full training, room and board, grooming, a full riding school program (group or private lessons) and horse show services. The Farm is known for its local and national championship history in Pre-Green, Regular Working, Junior, Adult-Amateur, Amateur Owner, Pony, and Children's Hunters at "AA" shows.
The facility can hold 50 horses and currently boards 35. It has an automated flyspray system, rubber-matted box stalls, hot walkers, turnouts and lighted arenas.
Sunset Ranch is located on Beachwood Drive, high up in the Hollywood Hills, under the iconic Hollywood sign. It consists of 52 miles of horseback riding trails in Griffith Park. Services include hourly horse rentals, lunch and dinner rides, lessons and sales. Discount cards for $2 off per hour are available. A single discount card is valid for an entire party. All riders must be at least eight years old and less than 240 pounds. Sunset is also a full boarding facility.
The Shadow Glen Family Stables has been located on Main Street since 1976 after moving four years prior from nearby location. Pat Godwin and his daughter Kelly Godwin have recently taken over ownership of Shadow Glen Family Stables in August 2009 and enjoy the Fair Oaks area because of its closeness to state parks. Shadow Glen offers one to two hour rides with longer rides by special arrangement. It also offers boarding of privately owned horses and a summer horse camp for ages eight to sixteen years. Branscomb Farms is a fully-equipped stable and seventy-four acre horse ranch that buys, sells, breeds and shows horses.
