Open since 1956, SJ Riding Camp is an overnight summer camp for girls age 8-16. Sessions range from 1-3 weeks and include two riding lessons per day per camper, instruction in horse care and conventional camp activities such as arts and crafts and archery. The camp is accredited by the American Camping Association and all instructors have earned certification by the Certified Horsemanship Assoiciation. Fitzjoy Farm Riding Academy has been in operation since 1975. This establishment offers riding lessons for individuals at varying levels of experience, offers group outings on the Palos Trail System and hosts park, school and summer camp outings as well as birthday and pony parties. Fitzjoy has worked with CPS (Chicago Public Schools), various day camp groups and has even participated in the Saddle Up for St. Jude Children's Memorial Hospital annual charity drive. Fitzjoy has something for all ages. Horse boarding is available if you are going on vacation or need a break from taking care of your horse. Gift certificates are also available.
Calypso Bay Stables II has a total of 31 stalls split up between three different barns; the barns all have different housing prices. Each stall has automatic systems like watering, fly spray systems, lighting and fans. The facility offers up full and partial boarding for horse owners. Other services such as grooming, healthcare, trailer storage, horse training and riding lessons are also provided; pricing differs from service to service. During the summer time, the facility also hosts a summer camp for children.
