Started in 1978 by a group of clergy and civic leader, PEP is a nonprofit organization that builds housing for low-income seniors. It currently has 274 units at 12 locations throughout Petaluma and is expanding into other communities around California. PEP staff assist residents by referring them to community organizations for additional services, organize education and health-related activities and arrange for in-home support, transportation and meals.
This not-for-profit organization employs a community land trust model to provide affordable housing to low-income families in the Bay Area. It both builds and renovates existing properties to rent or sell below market cost to residents who have been trained in home ownership responsibilities. The organization also offers office space when available.
Island Walk is a 102-unit development located in the Lake Anne section of Reston. The community is an affordable housing neighborhood, with two-, three- and four-bedroom townhouse units available to qualifying families.
The neighborhood features a play area and community room, as well as access to public transportation.
