The City of Somerville took over administration of this state-owned ice rink in fall 2010, and immediately introduced more public skate times and programs including hockey lessons and league play for both youths and adults. The rink sits in the middle of Conway Park on Somerville Avenue.
Public skating is free and as of 1/2/11, skate rentals were just $6. A snack bar is open daily and an on-site pro shop offers skate sharpening.
FUN TIP: The rink hosts birthday parties as well.
The Armstrong Skating Arena is a Commonwealth of Massachusetts public ice skating facility. It is overseen by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, and has been managed by Facility Management Corporation since 1992.
It is a full-service skating facility offering a variety of skating programs for all ages and abilities. The facility features a pro shop, a heated conference room and facilities for birthday parties. The Armstrong Skating Arena offers year-round ice time and a seasonal public skating schedule, located on its Web site.
The Ice, Ice Skating and Hockey Complex is conveniently located on Highway 9, between Redi Road and Old Atlanta Road. It offers public skate, birthday parties, hockey, and skating lessons for children and adults. Admission for public skate is $7 for adults and $3 for skate rental, $5 for children, five and under, and $3 for skate rental. Men's stick time admission is $10.
