Trinity Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. We began as an extension of Zion Lutheran Church, Tawas City. The first worship service and Sunday school were held on September 18, 1958, in the old Oscoda community building. We were soon in need of a building of our own so a previous church building was purchased. The building was moved to our present location, but in 1963 we outgrew it and a new building was constructed. In addition to the sanctuary, it included a parish hall, education room and kitchen. Over the years renovations and additions have been added, in order to facilitate worship and the needs of the congregation. Jesus Christ commissioned His church to make disciples of all nations. He gives His church the gifts of Word and Sacrament to make and nurture disciples of Jesus. Therefore, the members of Trinity are committed to baptizing the repentant and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To this end, we provide opportunities to hear His Word, receive His sacrament, and offer thanks and praise at our worship services.

For the past nine years, Hope Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills, Michigan has helped raise much needed funds for local, national and international non-profit groups and social service agencies by hosting an Alternative Christmas Fair at the start of the holiday season. This year the fair will be moving to St Fabian Catholic Church to allow for even more nonprofit organizations to gather under one roof for one day but continuing under the leadership of Hope. Each charity invited offers unique gifts for sale or opportunities to donate specific items and they are able to keep 100% of the proceeds. A $1 admission will be charged at the door and there will be lunch items and homemade cookies for sale to raise just enough money to pay administrative costs such as advertisement and table rental expenses. The Hope Alternative Christmas Fair can boast of raising over $173, 000 for dozens and dozens of non-profit organizations to date. If you are unfamiliar with the Alternative Christmas Fair concept, it is a fun way to bypass the annual stress of holiday shopping and stop the accumulation of stuff while honoring friends, relatives, teachers, or others, with donations to causes that fit their values. Whats more, Alternative Christmas Fairs provide critical support for a diverse collection of non-profit organizations with established track records of helping people and the environment the world over.
