This small unique museum invites visitors to enhance the quality of their thoughts, their lives and the world around them. The museum is specifically designed to bring us back to a knowledge of our true selves and our responsibility to humanity.  The art works, the events, and the space are designed to nurture you, the inner being...that part which is often neglected in the world of chaos and constant distractions. This is a treasure of a place, a gift to humanity, where one can visit to experience peace, wisdom, power and love.  Our hope is that everyone who experiences the museum finds his or her own authentic meaning for life.

The Meditation Museum features interactive displays and tailored training sessions providing tools for personal and spiritual change.  It hosts a variety of conversations, workshops, special presenters, dialogues, seminars and of course, sessions on how to silence the mind.  Courses include meditation, stress management, conscious cooking and practicing internal silence.

You will be able to visualize and understand how our thoughts influence the external world through art ranging from pictures, posters, painting and sculpture to music, theater, dance and poetry.  All activities support the original integrity of the human being, highlighting strength of character, power of mind and peace.

We trust that after your visit to the Museum, you will come back again and again and will continue to share the good news with friends and family - that one can enter into a new world of awesome self-discovery at the Meditation Museum.

All events are free of charge at the Meditation Museum, however, your generous tax-deductible contributions and, of course, your good wishes do help to keep the variety of programs and the doors open for all to enter and realize who they truly are.

We’re not your typical spa – in fact, we’ve hesitated in calling ourselves a spa at all. The Still Point isn’t just a temporary beauty and relaxation pit stop. As a women-owned small business that serves the greater Washington, D.C. and Baltimore metro areas by providing top-notch holistic wellness modalities, we’re a place to pursue and maintain wellness of mind, body and spirit. Our founder, Tori Paide, left her high-powered international development career when she became aware of the benefits of holistic wellness. She pursued a degree in acupuncture. Then she became keenly aware that in her own city of Washington, D.C. there was a dearth of opportunities for therapeutic touch, acupuncture, and energy work. With the founding of The Still Point Takoma Park in 2007, she developed a new business model which allowed for greater support of practitioners than the traditional spa model has offered while fostering a natural approach to keeping people healthy. In 2011, Tori joined forces with Marla Peoples. Marla’s background was in psychology; she then moved into the corporate world as an executive recruiter and corporate trainer. During this time, she was introduced to acupuncture as a complement to Western medicine. The treatments had such a profound effect on her life that she knew she was meant to do this work. Marla is passionate about educating people on proactive wellness and healing. Together, Tori and Marla brought their vision to fruition. In 2011, The Still Point opened its second location in Clarksville, Maryland. In 2014, The Still Point opened Haven on the Lake in Columbia, Maryland, and the two Howard County locations merged. At both locations, our expertly-trained practitioners perform their services in beautiful and inviting environments. We seek to maintain an eco-friendly ethos in all aspects of the business, including Toma, a Still Point exclusive brand of personal care products free from animal cruelty, petrochemicals, pthalates, and parabens. We’ve been voted “Best in DC” by the Washington City Paper year after year. The Still Point nurtures and inspires wellness - changing people’s lives and building healthy communities

The book is a guide to self-realization so as to make optimal decisions to prevent being overwhelmed by an oppressive situation. Freedom is a state of mind. One must begin by making changes within the self to realize the depth of ones freedom. Self-realized thoughts overcome trials and tribulations. These transform actions based in reasoned solutions. Active learning, self Dcorrection in self-love helps achieve optimal thoughts. Inner consciousness improves actions that withstand adversity. This enduring philosophy is a fail- safe, tried and true method to uphold autonomy of the self. Oppression is best overcome with self-assured wisdom that exposes ignorance. To overcome limited consciousness, ones identity is also open to reconsideration. The notion of One World lies in consciously connecting to the collective as a whole while securing ones unique individuality.

Body Balance was founded by Master Pat Hancock in 1986 to offer training in a holistic approach to lifelong health. Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Yoga, meditation, massage and acupuncture are offered following Taoist principles of harmony with nature. Today, we use our bodies much differently than people did 50 to 100 years ago. Our sedentary lifestyles have weakened our connection to our inborn vitality. Healing, as well as martial, arts can reconnect us to lifelong physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. At Body Balance the process of regaining what we have lost is fun, energizing and challenging. Body Balance also represents balance in lifestyle. Family, meditation, a healthy sustainable lifestyle and Kung Fu and Tai Chi practice all have their treasured places in life. The school allowed Pat to be home while his children were young, and two of them are carrying on the tradition of martial arts instruction today. Pat Hancock has practiced martial arts for over 35 years and is a world-ranked master instructor. He was trained by a master instructor from Taiwan, who gave his blessing for Pat to establish his own school. He is the 1996 gold medalist in the International Kung Fu competition and the 1986 bronze medalist at the World Kung Fu championship in Taiwan. Pat met his master when he gave a friend a ride to a Kung Fu class. An agreement for six months of classes evolved into a lifelong commitment. Pat started learning Kung Fu, but found that Tai Chi helped him build muscle control and strengthened his health. This allowed him to improve his Kung Fu training, which led him to the world championships. Offering instruction in Tai Chi to individuals with serious health issues, such as substance abuse and cancer, and seeing their health improve, inspired Pat to open his own school. His commitment to making healing available to others is now leading to the expansion of the Body Balance programs to Yoga, massage, and acupuncture. While he experienced years of strict traditional training from his master, Pat has used his intuition and compassion to develop a teaching style that is gentle and encouraging. His unique style, honed through years of experience, combines the relaxed internal style of Tai Chi with the fast smooth character of Kung Fu in a holistic manner that makes martial arts available to everyone, not just the elite athlete or the determined warrior. Pat finds satisfaction in watching his students move from struggling with aspects of their lives to having deep confidence and inner peace physically, mentally and spiritually. Body Balance was featured on CBS Capital Edition, Washingtonian Magazine and Tai Chi Magazine. Pat served as consultant to the National Institute of Health and as stress management instructor for Maryland public schools. His services are recommended by area physicians, psychologists and chiropractors. Pat and his family have for many years journeyed on the path to a balanced lifestyle that flows in harmony with nature in the Taoist tradition. Creating a sustainable way of life and sharing that with others is a healing art of stewardship. You are invited to join the exploration by learning more from these websites:

We have all the props you may need (mats, blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps, etc.) for any of the classes you choose to attend. If you have your own mat, please feel free to bring it with you, but if not, we have you covered. Wear clothing that allows you to move freely and breathe without restriction. There is space for you to leave your shoes as we practice with bare feet. Please arrive and allow yourself 5 to 10 minutes before class starts so you can unroll your mat, grab your props, and "arrive". Your yoga mat is one place where there is no judgement, no expectation, no competition, and is one place where you can be exactly who you are...no more, no less. Yoga meets you right where you are."We look forward to seeing you on the mat!
