The ArcLight multiplex is home to the historical Cinerama Dome, the geodesic-shaped theater built in 1963. This state-of-the-art multiplex has all the modern amenities moviegoers have come to expect, like reserved seating, wider chairs, more legroom and retractable arm-rests. There's a café and bar where you can sip a cocktail or coffee or get a quick meal before or after a movie. The snack bars offer real buttered popcorn, and there's a gift shop in the lobby. The 10 screens offer a mix of new-release blockbusters, specialty and retrospective movies. The theater is adjacent to a seven-level self-parking garage off Ivar Street, just east of the Cinerama Dome, and offers validation with the purchase of a movie ticket. The café balcony is available on weekdays for private party rentals.
Built in the 1980s, this cinema has been run by a number of different companies throughout the years. It has three theaters, two of which hold 250 people and a third which holds 150. All have high-back seats and one is 3-D, but there are no digital projectors. Cinelux offers senior and child discounts ($7.50), and shows beginning before noon are $6, as are Thursday shows. Matinees (before 5pm) are $7.50. There is a surcharge for 3-D films.
The usual movie theater treats are sold, and coffee from next door (Lulu's) is allowed inside.
