Founded in 1990, Quad City Arts is a visual arts gallery and re-granting program, featuring local performing artists in Rock Island, Ill. Formed due to the merger of Quad City Arts Council, Visiting Artists, Inc., Festival of Trees and Bix Arts Festival, It serves the residents of Rock Island, Henry and Mercer counties in Illinois and Scott, Clinton, and Muscatine counties in Iowa. The organizations which finance the Quad City Arts include Festival of Trees, Quad City Arts Partners (memberships), and operating grants from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and the Iowa Arts Council, which is a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs. It also provides various literary programs and public sculpture programs and programs for the metro youth.

Architectural Artifacts has been collecting, displaying and selling antiques and artifacts from around the world since 1987. Today it features an 80,000-square-foot showroom and is home to the Museum of Historic Chicago Architecture. Antiques come in many different styles, from different eras and various regions. The Museum of Historic Chicago Architecture features pieces from Chicago landmarks and prominent buildings designed and created by masters such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis H. Sullivan. This location regularly hosts private events in its atrium/showroom. In addition to the showroom and indoor galleries, Architectural Artifacts also has a courtyard filled with statuary and stone columns.

The Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, located on Chicagos Gold Coast, is the place for you. It is a non-profit educational institution that consists of artists wanting to fine-tune their artistic skills through classes, workshops and exhibitions. We offer art classes in oil painting, drawing, watercolor and sculpture and have exhibitions all year round! We provide more than 60 hours per week of open studio sessions with live models. The Palette and Chisel is the premier institution for figure drawing, painting and sculpting. The Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts values our students growth. The new members join as Associate Members, then after one year they can become Artist Members with additional benefits and responsibilities. As an Associate Member, you will have the opportunity to master and develop some of your techniques you have already acquired in our open studio sessions. You will also receive discounts on classes, and if you have a teaching background you may be able to rent space and teach a class! As an Artist Member, you are able to exhibit your work in the galleries of our 1870s Italianate Mansion. invited to the award exhibition, the Gold Medal Show, as well as the chance to vote at regular quarterly membership meetings. The Oak View Community Center is located on a tree-filled campus on the east side of Oak Lawn. Its field house contains many museum-quality nature displays of the area's early history, as well exhibits of sea creatures, animals, shells, rocks and minerals.

The center offers a diverse selection of programming, including art classes, fitness, recreation programs and pre-school classes.

The Oak Lawn Community Theater is also stationed at Oak View, staging four critically-acclaimed family musicals per year in a newly renovated gymnasium complete with stadium seating.

Rooms in the community center are available for rental for private parties. The center also has chairs and tables available for rentals. Room rentals range in price from $25-$59 per hour and can accommodate private parties of up to 200 people. 

The outdoor park grounds include a baseball field, picnic grounds, playground and a sand volleyball court. 

Residents can also register for park district programs at Oak View.

Founded in 1972, Chicago Botanic Garden is located in Glencoe, Ill., and is a public garden and center for learning and scientific research. The more than 380-acre garden features over 20 display areas and natural habitats. The display area includes various green houses and outlying gardens, such as Aquatic Garden, Bonsai Collection, English Oak Meadow, Esplanade, Greenhouses, McDonald Woods and Skokie River. Illinois State Museum was founded in 1877, and its first home was in the State Capitol building. The Museum was founded as a natural history museum with outstanding geology and biology collections. The headquarters of Illinois State Museum is in Springfield. The Museums Research and Collections Center, which houses collections, research laboratories, and a Technology Learning Center is located at 1011 East Ash Street in Springfield. Branch facilities include Dickson Mounds Museum in Lewistown, Lockport Gallery in Lockport, the Southern Illinois Artisans Shop and Southern Illinois Art Gallery at Rend Lake, and the Illinois Artisans Shop and Chicago Gallery in the James R. Illinois State Museum was housed in the Centennial Building ( now the Howlett Building ) from 1923 until the new museum building was constructed and dedicated in February 1963. This marked the first time in Illinois State Museums history that the Museum was located in a facility devoted exclusively to Illinois State Museum.
