Architectural Artifacts has been collecting, displaying and selling antiques and artifacts from around the world since 1987. Today it features an 80,000-square-foot showroom and is home to the Museum of Historic Chicago Architecture. Antiques come in many different styles, from different eras and various regions. The Museum of Historic Chicago Architecture features pieces from Chicago landmarks and prominent buildings designed and created by masters such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis H. Sullivan. This location regularly hosts private events in its atrium/showroom. In addition to the showroom and indoor galleries, Architectural Artifacts also has a courtyard filled with statuary and stone columns.
The Skokie Heritage Museum is a facility of the Skokie Park District. This property features historical exhibits, classrooms, meeting rooms and party rooms. This location hosts a variety of classes and programs. The rooms are available for rent by contacting the Skokie Park District.
This non-profit arts center was founded more than 50 years ago, as an outlet for North Shore artists. Just north of downtown Highland Park, the experience begins before one even walks inside. The grounds of the center are alive with sculptures of various types. Inside, information about classes, exhibitions and workshops are offered. The center is supported by donations, and those who donate receive special privileges as members.
This is a fun family-friendly farm. Kids can explore the many different stations, such as the the cowshed, horses, as well as ducks, geese and hens. There are swings and tractors for kids to play on and Wagner Farm's friendly staff give tours and lead activities for school groups and visitors.
The Oak View Community Center is located on a tree-filled campus on the east side of Oak Lawn. Its field house contains many museum-quality nature displays of the area's early history, as well exhibits of sea creatures, animals, shells, rocks and minerals.
The center offers a diverse selection of programming, including art classes, fitness, recreation programs and pre-school classes.
The Oak Lawn Community Theater is also stationed at Oak View, staging four critically-acclaimed family musicals per year in a newly renovated gymnasium complete with stadium seating.
Rooms in the community center are available for rental for private parties. The center also has chairs and tables available for rentals. Room rentals range in price from $25-$59 per hour and can accommodate private parties of up to 200 people.
The outdoor park grounds include a baseball field, picnic grounds, playground and a sand volleyball court.
