The Minnesota Daily is the campus newspaper of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, published every weekday while school is in session, and published weekly on Wednesdays during summer sessions. Published since 1900, the newspaper is one of the largest student-run and student-written newspapers in the United States and the fourth-largest newspaper in the state of Minnesota. It runs independently from the University, although some funding comes from campus. More than 20,000 copies are distributed daily and are available at hundreds of locations on and near campus free of charge. On average, the Minnesota Daily has a staff of 175 students per semester. The newspaper dually operates as a training institution, providing students with real work experience in journalism, photography, editing, advertising sales, marketing, finance, graphic design, editorial and advertising production, human resources, information systems, public relations, survey research and Web programming.

Located less than 10 miles from downtown, the Minneapolis Golf Club has been an established private golf club since 1916. In addition to the 1959 PGA Championship, MGC has been host to the Western Amateur Championship, USGA Amateur Championship, the Minnesota State Open, the Daytons Challenge and a host of other regional and local championships. In addition, the local U.S. Open qualifying was held at the club in 2003, and the MGA Amateur Championship took place on the course in 2005. Minneapolis Golf Club membership requires two proposing sponsors as part of its application process. An application must be submitted to the membership committee and subsequently to the board of directors for approval. Established by five members of the Minneapolis Athletic Club, the golf club boasts three food and beverage locations, a world-class golf course and recently refurbished Olympic-size swimming pool with poolside food and beverage service.
