Air Force Village I is one of two Air Force Village retirement communities founded by the Air Force Village Foundation in 1964. The community was the first retirement community in the nation that offered care and services for retired military officers and their dependents. In 1987, Air Force Village I became the first military-related retirement community to be accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. It was the first health care facility in San Antonio to embrace the Eden Principles of health care operations to create home-like environments in skilled nursing care centers. Air Force Village I and II operates through contributions from Officers Wives/Spouses Clubs, The Air Force Assistance Fund, individuals, corporations and foundations.

NHS is a CHDO, member of the national Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporations NeighborWorks network, and a Community Development Finance Institute. NHS opened its Home Ownership Center in 1999 and a Home Maintenance Center in 2003. With public-private partnerships comprised of neighborhood residents, area business leaders, and government representatives, NHS serves as a catalyst to reverse the trend of decline in disinvested areas of the City and County.

Located in San Antonio, STRAC, also known as the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council, is an organization that assists in the development, implementation and operation of a comprehensive trauma care system. Campus of the San Antonio Jewish Community was founded in 1999 houses several Jewish organizations in the San Antonio area. The campus organizations include Barshop Jewish Community Center, Jewish Federation of San Antonio, Eleanor Kolitz Academy and Golden Manor Retirement Community. It offers a gymnasium, swimming pool and discounts on activities and room reservations to its members.
