Founded in 1960, the Kalamazoo Nature Center is one of the leading nature centers in the United States. It is a nonprofit center that maintains an area of more than 1,000 acres of wooded area. The center offers a series of environmental education programs for homeschoolers from ages 4 to 12. Its amenities include an auditorium, gallery, garden and picnic area. The center also specializes in preschool activities, including dramatic play, songs, language arts, story time and nature walks. The Kalamazoo Nature Center additionally organizes summer camps for children. It offers a range of scout, youth and educational programs.
