Freedom Park, built in 1996, is a two-block-long elevated linear park. It was built as a joint venture with the Newseum and Freedom Forum Journalists Memorial and currently houses various exhibits.
The Fort Hunt Park, which is a unit of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, features picnic areas, jogging trails and educational services. In addition to the recreational activities, Fort Hunt Park has a rich history. The site was used as part of George Washington's farm, a Spanish-American War coastal fortification and the setting for top-secret WWII military intelligence operations, as well as a popular picnic area along the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
Andrew Leitch Regional Park is home to a playground, picnic areas, basketball and volleyball courts, a WaterWorks water park and fields for baseball, softball and soccer. Mamie Davis Park is a local community space and park area. The park has a gazebo as well as benches, open grass areas and paths. It also hosts events throughout the year. Check the main town site for information on events or for details on the park.
