Durham / North Carolina / United States
Dr. John R. Christensen is a pediatric dentist and orthodontist practicing in Durham, North Carolina since 1986. "Dr. John" is one of a handful of practitioners in the United States with specialty training to practice both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. This unique combination of specialties allows your children to receive comprehensive pediatric dental and orthodontic care in one office. Our clinical staff is highly trained to provide both pediatric dental and orthodontic care for children, teens and the developmentally disabled. This training is a bit unusual, as most dental offices are limited to practicing one specialty. Our office goal is to have your child leave our practice with healthy teeth and a positive attitude towards dental care. We emphasize the prevention of disease rather than wait for it to occur. The prevention of dental disease is a team effort and includes the involvement and commitment of both the child and parent. Our cheerful office features a comfortable reception room with wireless internet access and a childrens play area. Our office technology allows us to provide the best possible pediatric dental and orthodontic care for your child including digital radiography to reduce the amount of radiation your child receives during a radiographic examination. Dr. John is on faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an adjunct clinical professor and has directed the orthodontic training of pediatric dentistry residents since 1986. Dr. Christensen is Board Certified as a Diplomate with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He currently serves as the President of the North Carolina Orthodontic Association and has also served as president of the Durham-Orange County Dental Society, the North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the UNC Orthodontic Alumni Association. He has served on the Test Development Committee for both the American Dental Association and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, preparing test questions for Dental Board Exams. Dr. Christensen completed his pediatric dental residency (1984) and his orthodontic residency (1986) at The University of North Carolina.
