The Arc of Hilo works to improve the quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities through educational, vocational and skill training, as well as employment and residential opportunities in Hawaii. Incorporated in 1954, the organization offers employment training services that train persons in competitive employment and job interview skills, and personal grooming and resume preparation. It provides residential services through the Hilo Arc Housing Corporation No. 1 and Hale Ulu Hoi III. The Arc of Hilo administers the Long-Term Adult Supports and Resources Program, which includes the opportunity for educational and vocational development for individuals with developmental disabilities. In addition, the organization provides janitorial, grounds keeping, laundry and greenhouse nursery production services.
