Founded in 1942, Saint Matthews Parish provides spiritual services for up to 900 parishioners at mass. It offers prayer services and conducts classes for the sacrament of marriage. It maintains catechetical, spiritual life, Eucharistic, and parish development and governance ministries. The parish supports a community action program that is sponsored by area churches for underprivileged individuals. Saint Matthews Parish also administers sports and teenage activities that include soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and track and field for students through its youth activities council. It also maintains St. Matthew School, which was opened in 1942 and works to assist in the academic, spiritual, social and physical development of children. Saint Francis Xavier School serves students preschool through grade eight and is comprised of more than 30 teachers, specialists, aides and support staff.
