The Evangelical Taiwan Church is in northeast Skokie. It is one of 35 ETC congregations across the U.S., and the congregants here represent just a percentage of the church's 4,800 members. Founded in China in 1952, the mission of this church is to spread the word and teachings of Christianity to the Chinese-American population.
Located in the heart of downtown Skokie, St. Peter's Catholic Church is established as an official landmark. One of the first churches built in Skokie, it was founded at its current location in 1868 and rebuilt in 1894. The gorgeous church is located directly across the parking lot from its own school, St. Peters Catholic School, which offers instruction to students from pre-K through 8th grade. Led by the Rev. The Evanshire Presbyterian Church began in a storefront location on the corner of Niles Center Road and Church Street when the area was still a prairie. It was 1954, and a dozen Skokie families who were looking for a home church had accepted the invitation of a seminary student to begin a new fellowship. No one is quite sure where the 'Evanshire' part of the name comes from, but the congregation is alive and well all these years later, having moved far beyond the storefront and into the Skokie establishment.
St. Paul Lutheran Academy, which offers courses for students in kindergarten through 8th-grade, was founded in 1881. It also runs a preschool for children ages 3 and up. Visit its Web site for an enrollment application.
A Christian church, the North Shore Assembly of God has been in the same location in Skokie since 1960. With around 150 members, the congregation holds many youth group activities for young men and women in middle and high school. Led by reverend Fred Sindorf, the North Shore Assembly of God typically holds service on Sundays at 10am.
The Grace Chinese Christian Church has been in the Skokie community since 1981 and at its current location since 1999. Led by Pastor Fook Tin Ho, the Grace Chinese Christian Church has around 100 members and is an independent Christian church.
Formed in 1981 with the merger of Carter Memorial Assyrian Presbyterian Church, located in Chicago, and Westminster Presbyterian Church, located in Skokie, this congregation of 300 members is revitalizing and growing.
According to Church staff, the congregation is racially diverse and intergenerational, and caters to the youth through its Sunday School and youth programs, as well as a strong music program to enhance worship.

United Open Bible Missions is a place of worship located in western Skokie. UOBM is an offshoot of the Pentecostal church and was begun in the early 1930s. The Central United Methodist Church is a place of worship in central Skokie. The church practices outreach in a variety of unorthodox ways: sermons are available online in text form; the congregation is working together on a giant project in the form of a log cabin. Originally built in 1923, the church is working to restore the structure that once held their services and educated their youth.
INSIGHT Church is a religous institution doing God's word by understanding and embracing. It was founded by Pastor James E. Ward Jr. Moreover, the church also serves as a cultural center with a 300-seat auditorium, community park, playground, and water park.
