The City of Mountain View Police Department (MVPD) is comprised of a diverse 120 officers involved in all aspects of law enforcement, whether as beat officers, detectives, patrol supervisors, SWAT team members, evidence techs and administrative management.
MVPD aims to fight crime through prevention and as such the department collaborates with local businesses about security, children and youth through the Dreams & Future program, and residents with neighborhood watch programs.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department substation provides police protection to Marina del Rey residents and operates a boat patrol. The station formerly was the Marina del Rey Harbor Patrol, but the Sheriff's Department took over operations in 1984. The substation has a jail and a back dock is home to offshore and close-to-shore patrol boats. The station is also responsible for patrol in three unincorporated areas that stretch for about a mile inland.
The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Department is a branch of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department serving the communities of Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Chatsworth, Hidden Hills and Westlake Village. Unincorporated communities include Chatsworth Lake Manor, Malibou Lake, Topanga and West Hills. The station opened its doors in 1991, and around 160 sworn officers are currently employed there. The department is currently headed by Capt. Joseph H. Stephen Jr., who is supported by six lieutenants.
The Altadena Sheriff's Station works to prevent crime, protect life and property, apprehend and prosecute offenders, suppress criminal activity and preserve the public peace. The station also provides traffic enforcement and accident investigations, and vacation checks. Citizens should call 911 for emergency aid and crimes in progress. The station is led by Captain Steven M. McLean.
The Deputy Sheriffs Association of Alameda County – whose administrative offices are located on Owens Dr. – represents Alameda County law enforcement in order to enhance wages, benefits and working conditions of the membership. It supports Alameda County communities through its charitable giving programs, and through the promotion of public safety initiatives.
