The Lor-Jon Montessori School in Elmhurst offers curriculums for parents and children two years old or younger as well as for toddlers and preschoolers. The school's philosophy centers around nurturing a child's relationship with his or her environment and supportive adults.
Elmhurst Unit District 205's Madison Early Childhood Center provides services for children ages three to five who qualify for preschool services. Children qualify to attend Madison based on results of a developmental screening.
Parents can obtain a pre-screening packet by calling (630) 617-2385. Once the information is returned to the school, parents will be notified of the screening procedure.
Staff members at Madison are trained in speech-language pathology and early childhood special education. Early childhood specialists work with families, and other educators and professionals to best serve the needs of District 205's preschoolers.
Madison Early Childhood Center was renovated over the summer, so now the entire building can now be used for early childhood programs. The building previously housed the district's administrative offices and board room. Those offices now are located at 162 S. York.
Visitation School is a Catholic educational institution providing instruction for children in preschool through eighth grade. It offers children a variety of clubs and sports activities and provides before- and after-care.
The Bethel Learning Center is affiliated with the United Church of Christ and provides early childhood education for children ages 2 through 5. BLC also offers the popular Kindergarten Enhancement classes in the afternoons for children who attend morning Kindergarten in public or private school. All children and families are welcome and no specific religious doctrine is taught. BLC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) which is considered the gold standard for early childhood education. The center is located next to the Sandburg Middle School.
Mary Queen of Heaven Preschool offers an education that is centered around Christ. Preschool classes are offered Monday through Friday, twice or three times per week. You can tour the school and meet the teachers during its open house hours or at your convenience.
Salt Creek Primary School is one of the schools in Salt Creek Elementary District 48, which serves students from Elmhurst, Villa Park, Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace. Salt Creek Primary, with a student enrollment of about 150 is the only one of the district's three schools located in Elmhurst. Salt Creek serves children in preschool through first grade. It also is home to classes for students with visual impairments. The school offers a hot lunch program. Staff includes a full-time special education teacher and reading specialist, and programs include speech/language therapy and English as a second language. The school also has a library media center and computer lab with 13 computers.
Christian Family Preschool is located directly behind the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church at the corner of Spring and Saint Charles Roads. The school offers morning and daytime preschool classes. The school is open to the public.
