The Omaha World-Herald is the largest employee-owned daily newspaper in the United States. Founded in 1885, it has had six publishers in its more than 120-year history. The newspaper is a statewide Nebraska newspaper and covers western Iowa. It has more than 3,000 news racks and retail outlet locations throughout its coverage area. The World-Herald s circulation is approximately 180,000 for weekday editions, which jumps to more than 220,000 on Sundays. With bureaus in Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., the newspaper s staff exceeds 200 writers, editors, photographers, designers and press operators. It also has a bureau in Washington, D.C. The McCook Daily Gazette has been serving McCook and the Golden Plains of southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas since 1911. First known as the Red Willow County Gazette, the newspaper started as a weekly and evolved into a semi-weekly and tri-weekly publication before becoming a daily in 1924. The Gazette has more than 50 full and part-time employees and more than 100 newspaper carriers, who deliver the daily newspaper in nearly 30 towns in southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas.
