Commonly known as the Rec Center, this busy place has something for everyone: pottery, yoga, karate, dance, gymnastics, art, as well as a playground and picnic area. A former school, the building and grounds cover 10 acres. The Browning Courthouse, a small wooden structure dating from 1860, has been relocated to the center.
The Roswell Adult Learning Center is a nonprofit organization providing a convenient and comfortable environment for Roswell residents over 50 of age to take classes in computer fundamentals, the internet and email, as well as programs such as PowerPoint, Excel and Picasa. Originally a family farm, the Perkerson family donated this 50-acres of land to city of Atlanta officials who turned it into a park in the 1950s. The park includes little league, softball and baseball fields, six tennis courts, a basketball court, a 100-person picnic pavilion, and two uncovered picnic areas with grills. The city's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs maintains the site. For park reservations, please call 404-546-6757. The office of the Acworth Parks and Recreation Department (APRD) is located by Logan Farm Park. The mission of APRD is to provide the highest quality of recreational services and facilities to the citizens of Acworth. The department has a staff of 21, and offers various programs to accommodate the different needs of Acworth residents. Some of the highlighted programs include senior citizen luncheons, Camp Acworth, middle school Camp, sports camp, a pre-school program, and Horizon League – a program that provides athletic opportunities to children between the ages of 5 and 21 with mental and physical disabilities .
Roxboro Valley Swim & Tennis Club is a membership facility nestled in Buckhead not far from Lenox Mall. It offers not only relaxing summers by the pool, but also swim teams and tennis lessons. The heated pool is 25-meters, and the tennis courts are lighted. Other amenities include a baby pool, a picnic pavilion, a children's playground, a vending area, a changing area and showers. Membership dues can now be paid online.
The 12.33-acre Brownwood Park is comprised of two long parcels of green space. It is bordered on the north by Portland Avenue, Ormewood Avenue to the south and Brownwood and Gresham avenues to the west and east, respectively.
The park is bisected by Pendleton Street.
The northern parcel boasts tennis and volleyball courts and a basketball court. It also has a covered picnic pavilion and grill and children's jungle gym.
The park also is home to the Brownwood Park Community Garden, which is located near the tennis courts.
The park's southern parcel is a nice, wooded trail, used by joggers, walkers and dog owners.
