Founded in 1974 as a private pre-school with an extended daycare center, Burlington School is a multi-lingual school that serves children ages two to ten years. Located between Beverly Boulevard and Temple Street, the school offers nnursery, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and elementary school education. The school is registered under the California State Department of Education and boasts a staff experienced in the fields of early childhood and elementary education.
Situated in a white house with a well manicured front lawn at the end of a dead-end street sits the Maimonides Academy, an Orthodox Sephardic Jewish school that teaches kindergarten through eighth grade. The school focuses on general studies, critical thinking and the Jewish faith, incorporating its heritage into the teachings. Venice High School is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Originally located in a boathouse, the school was moved to its present location in 1925. Although the school is named Venice High, it is actually located in the Mar Vista 90066 district. Venice expands its borders to encompass the school.
Venice High's picturesque campus was a principal shooting location in the movie "Grease", playing the part of Rydell High. The bronze statue in front of the school is of movie legend and almuna Myrna Loy.
