Chesterton Academy is a college preparatory high school that uses a Catholic-oriented teaching method. The school deploys an integrated education in its curricula for art, music, literature, language, history, science, mathematics, philosophy and religion. Chesterton Academy's mission is to prepare students for the eternal and temporal life and to be good citizens.
Located in the scenic Windom neighborhood of southwest Minneapolis, this Spanish and English immersion school aims to build fluency in native speakers of both languages. Instruction is split between English and Spanish, with the goal that students will become fluently bicultural and bilingual.
South Education Center (SEC) serves students from Richfield and around the metro area as part of Intermediate School District 287. The SEC building in Richfield is one of a handful of other program buildings in the district.
From teen parents wanting to finish high school through the South Education Center Alternative School, to kids with physical and development disabilities, the district offers a variety of programs to the needs of its students.
Robbinsdale Middle School is housed in the former Robbinsdale High School which, for many years, was the only senior high in the school district. When Cooper and Armstrong High Schools opened and overall district enrollments declined, Robbinsdale High was closed, then reopened as Robbinsdale Middle School. RMS has an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program as well as as an Advanced Via Individual Determination program.
Meadowbrook Elementary is the lone Hopkins school located in Golden Valley. It is distinguished by the large number of students it draws from other districts. About 40 percent of its students are open enrolled from outside Hopkins Public Schools. In addition to its school-day curriculum, Meadowbrook also offers before- and after-school childcare.
Excel High School offers online classes to students of all ages working towards diplomas and GEDs. Excel is backed by the BBB and features full time and part time tracks for its students to follow. The school is a member of the Edina Chamber of Commerce. It is accredited by the AdvancED and North Central Association, both agencies being recognized by the State of Minnesota and the U.S. Department of Education.
