Established in 1908, Southwest Mississippi Community College is a two-year college that offers the freshman and sophomore level academic transfer courses and vocational-technical programs. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The college offers instruction in areas, such as career and technical, social science, business, math and humanities. It also offers an associate degree nursing program that provides educational opportunities for developing a career as registered nurses. Additionally, Southwest Mississippi Community College provides various online courses to support academics and student services. Its campus information center is the student information system and course scheduling site for faculty and students. Located in Summit, Miss., the college has a library-learning resource center that houses more than 36,000 volumes of books and over 3,500 nonprint items, including microfilm, video tapes and CD-ROMs. It also consists of nearly 200 periodicals and newspapers.
