Head Start is a federally-funded pre-kindergarten program that has serviced children of low-income families in Long Beach for more than 25 years. The stated mission of Head Start, which was established by Congress in 1965, is to "provide the opportunity for education and training, employment and the right to live in decency and dignity, thus, helping people change lives." The Long Beach program is operated under the auspices of the Economic Opportunity Commission of Nassau County and CEO Iris Johnson. School hours are from 8am to 4pm.
The Hebrew Academy of Long Beach is an Orthodox day school serving children in grades one through eight, located on West Broadway and the boardwalk. The principal is Rabbi Shmuel Klammer. Long Beach Public Schools enrolls more than 4,000 students in seven schools, from pre-kindergarten to seniors in high school. Students come from Long Beach, Lido Beach, Point Lookout, East Atlantic Beach and Island Park.
The Superintendent is David Weiss. Dr. Randie Berger is deputy superintendent and Dr. Vincent Butera is assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. The chief operating officer is Michael DeVito.

Magnolia Child Care is a full-service day-care and child care program run at the Community Center. Magnolia offers summer camps for children ages three to six. With multiple classrooms, as well as outdoor facilities including a jungle gym and recreation area, it's sure to be a fun place for all kids. Youth and family services are available through the center.
Harriet Eiseman Community School of Long Beach is an alternative high school that was founded in 1972 as part of Long Beach Reach, a community organization that assists families and individuals with substance abuse. This school has a high school diploma program that includes vocational and college placement assistance. The school years consists of three semesters. Classes, which run into the summer, are held at night for students ages 15 to 21. The director is Juli-Anne Sabino.
Surf 2 Live is a surf school accredited by the National Surf Schools & Instructors Association. It has been providing surfing lessons in Long Beach for more than 30 years. Lessons available include private classes, Elliot's Blast Class, group classes and classes for special needs clients. The school also has summer surf camps for adults and kids. East Coast Instructor Training School is a home-based personal training institute that has personalized training structured on each individual's starting point and fitness goals. This program is for all levels of fitness, from beginner to advanced, and has specialties for athletes and recovery therapy.
Nu-Way Auto School provides pre-licensing courses for new drivers, including a five-hour classroom program given weekly. The school also offers driving courses of varying lengths, as well as a defensive driving course. All road courses have door-to-door pick-up at your home or business.
The auto school is located across the the street from the Long Beach Post Office on East Park Avenue.
