Georgina Blach Intermediate School is one of two junior high schools in the Los Altos School District. After its renovation several years ago, the school became recognized as one of the greenest and most energy-efficient in the district and its sustainable design by architect Lisa Gelfand was recognized in the Great Places Awards by the Environmental Design Research Associates. PG&E used Blach for a energy demonstration project.
The school's mural program, run by English teacher Valerie Lipinski (who has a degree in art) adorns the school with students' interpretations of famous works of art, by artists from Raphael to Pablo Picasso.
Montclaire is a K-5 elementary school, one of 25 in the Cupertino Union School District, and a 2010 California Distinguished School.

Egan Junior High School, located in the northern part of the city, is one of two in the Los Altos School District. It was selected a California Distinguished School in 1988 and is designated a Sustained Distinguished School.
It had a 2009 Academic Performance Index base score of 954.
Egan has an active PTA and provides information for parents to get involved to help the school in a variety of ways on its Web site. There is also a Los Altos Special Education PTA to foster communication and share information. Its leadership committee sponsored the adoption of a completely new special education curriculum for all grades for the Fall 2010.

This private, nonprofit high school, housed in two adjoining buildings, was founded by Dr. Herman and Jean Ohme in 2001 and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It is distinctive in that it specializes in one-on-one instruction. The coursework itself is traditional college preparatory material, including many AP classes, and it is accepted by the University of California and other colleges. Students range from elite dancers and athletes who need flexible scheduling to kids who simply were underserved by a more conventional high school.
