Colina Middle School is a National Blue Ribbon School and California Distinguished School located in Thousand Oaks, Calif. It serves more than 1,100 students from grades six through eight. The curriculum includes various subjects, such as math, science, English, social sciences, art, drama, music, computer foreign languages and physical education. Its extracurricular activities include field trips, dances, a leadership group that consists of more than 100 students who guide their peers in matters of school policy, music, chess and the science club. The school site council, comprising teachers and parents, is responsible for approving the budget and allocating funds for various school programs and projects.
